get-gutsy-podcast-solo-spirit-of-democracy

Today here in the United States, we sit on the precipice of one of the most important presidential elections in the history of our country.

So it seems fitting to offer you up a podcast episode focusing on the spirit of democracy, voting and using your voice.

Listen, I know that this presidential campaign has been ROUGH.

I’ve seen, heard and felt some things that are ugly, sad, disheartening and unbelievable.

AND … I’ve seen, heard and felt some things that are amazing, exciting, joyful and awe-inspiring.

This election cycle has been wild. Seriously.

And even though I’ve been super frustrated by a lot of what has gone on with all of the major parties (and the media), you better believe that today I’ll be at my local fire station – the site of our polling place – VOTING.

Especially as a woman, I know that it wasn’t so long ago that I didn’t have this right to cast a vote. The old laws essentially said, “Lady, your voice doesn’t matter as much as a white man’s voice.”

And I thank my sisters who were part of the women’s suffrage movement who FOUGHT (oftentimes sacrificing their lives) for my right to cast my ballot.

So I dedicate this episode of Get Gutsy to them, the Suffragettes.

I hope you enjoy it.

Get out the vote.
