this used to totally scare me …

Confession: I love doing something that makes many people feel VERY uncomfortable.

What is this thing? Going out to dinner by myself.

It’s true. I LOVE being by myself.

LOVE it. Love the peace, the calm, the quiet, the growth.

But it wasn’t always this way.

I used to be absolutely petrified of being alone.

Back in the day, if I didn’t have plans on a Friday night, I thought I was a total loser.

Truthfully, I was scared to be left alone with my thoughts.

I was scared of my inner dialogue, my inner critic, my inner chatter.

I was scared what people would think of me if I spent time alone, especially in PUBLIC.

I was scared of my truth.

Why?

Because I didn’t know who I was or what I was doing.

I felt like a drifter all alone on the high seas going to a place that didn’t feel quite right.

I had all the outward trappings of success, but deep down I knew that I was living someone else’s dream, not mine.

It was terrifying because I didn’t know how to get off that crazy roller-coaster ride.
