I know because I’ve lived this quandary.
In January 2011, I drove through a snowstorm to meet with a visionary mentor named Fabienne Fredrickson for a VIP Coaching Day. I was 6 months pregnant.
She told me what I’d know since I was a little girl: I was destined to write a book. And now was the time.
Gulp.
It was at once exhilarating and terrifying.
But I committed.
A few months later after I gave birth to my second child, I attended a weekend workshop for writers in New York City hosted by the publishing empire Hay House. I was going to write this book, dammit! And me attending that workshop was one step in that direction.
But by 2013 (2 years later), I hadn’t made any visible progress on my book.
Or so I thought …
Once I hired a book writing coach to create sacred space for me to birth my book, I realized that I had a lot more written than I thought.
The memoir pieces (the hardest, yet most crucial pieces of the book!) still had to be written, but I saw the path ahead of me and I was officially on the road to becoming a bestselling author.
And on the road to becoming a bestselling author, I had to truly step UP as a LEADER and someone who was willing to be SEEN, LOVED, PRAISED and CRITICIZED.
It’s all part of the deal.
I had to hire more people for my book publishing and launch team.
I had to rally my tribe to help me spread the word.
I had to reach out to high-level businesswomen to support my project.
I had to launch other projects to help me fund THIS project.
It was intense.
It was life-changing.
It required navigating TRICKY terrain.
