I pulled this photo out of my high school scrapbook over the weekend while leading my retreat.

I kept feeling the energy of my friend Sonda in the room with us.

Sonda and I were 17-year-old seniors in this shot. The photo was taken during the Homecoming Court assembly. We dreamed about getting picked for Court since we were in middle school! We were simply so excited about being honored this way by our classmates. At the beginning of our senior year, we manifested our dream.

But we didn’t realize our dream would come true at a horrible time in our lives > 7 months after my sister Julie died, and a few weeks after her brother Mark died.

These were our only siblings. The tragic timing was unbelievable.

You can’t tell by the look on our faces, but we were carrying a heavy burden of loss.

That united as friends … but then we took different roads a few months later and that turned out to be a decision that would follow us forever.

I chose to go away to college 2 hours away while Sonda chose to stay home and attend community college.

This broke my heart as we had planned to be roommates at the University of Florida. She simply wasn’t willing to leave our hometown when it was time. I think her heart was just too broken after Mark’s death. She got stuck and couldn’t find her way back to the light.

Sonda died when we were sophomores in college. She was depressed after a breakup. She had gotten into some heavy drugs that robbed her of her power.

I tried to tell her to hold on a few more weeks until I got home for Christmas break so we could hang out, but she just couldn’t stay.

I’ll never forget the phone call telling me she was gone.

I’ve often wondered all of the wonderful things she would have done in her life had she not gotten lost after Mark’s death. She had so much talent. So much intelligence. So much kindness. She was so loved.

And yet I feel her presence so deeply still, guiding me on. Reminding me that there is no need to numb, no need to be afraid, no need to dim your light, no need to hang out with people who aren’t going where you are.

You are a force of good in this world. You are powerful beyond measure. Don’t waste your gifts.

The energy I bring to my life and work at this stage is this >>

EVERYTHING I TOUCH TURNS TO GOLD

You truly must embody this belief and have a rock-solid confidence about the power of your work.

Say it with me: EVERYTHING I TOUCH TURNS TO GOLD.

If you don’t deeply believe in what you’re offering, how will anyone else?

If you don’t charge well for your great work, how can that work touch all the lives it’s meant to?

If you don’t price to profit, how will you stay in business? How will you support your team and your family and the causes that you hold dear?

This is the heart of what I teach and how I lead.

Remember: everything you touch turns to gold.

You are a force of good in this world. You are powerful beyond measure. Don’t waste your gifts.

Let’s go.

❤️ Jenny
