I’m going to answer this today. I created this video for entrepreneur moms, but it’s really for any woman who wants to make better use of her time to grow her biz and impact in the world.

Video Transcript – Time Management for Entrepreneur Moms

Today I’m talking to you moms out there. I’m a mom, proudly parenting three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter. They’re young. They have a lot of needs. Two of them can’t really get themselves dressed yet. I mean sometimes. It depends on the day.

So life is full and I’m often asked, “Jenny how the heck do you get so much done?”

You have seen what I’ve been able to do with my business. I’m really proud of that and I get asked all the time …

“How do you do it? How do you do it? I mean I’m exhausted at the end of my day.”

That’s what I hear from people. And you know what? Sometimes I’m exhausted too. Here’s how I do it and here’s how I suggest that you rock it out in your biz.

Focus on the essential tasks that only you can do. You must be amazing at delegation. You must be amazing at project management and you must be amazing at being so hardcore with your calendar. Okay?

On the delegation front, there are things that only you can do and that’s what you’ve got to be doing in your business and in your life. The rest of the stuff you can totally delegate. You can hire help. You can work with your partner like I am. My husband and I divide and conquer. We’re very clear on who’s doing what and you know that it’s – it is this ebb and flow game. Sometimes you’re carrying more of the load than other times.

But you can easily get help. You can hire a local teenager to come help out with your kids. You can get help with your house. If you say you can’t afford it, you’ve got to switch your thinking and say “how can I afford it?” You can’t do it all by yourself.

A lot of my clients for the first time, they get a housekeeper and they’re amazed at what it does to their energy levels. The fact that you don’t have that weighing on you every day and you can focus on growing your business and bringing in much more money than it would ever cost you to hire a housekeeper it SMART. I suggest you figure out a way to make this happen even if you get the housekeeper once a month to start to do a deep clean.

What you’ve got to do is to hire out, delegate, and get really smart and savvy.

You will never be able to grow your enterprise in the way that you need to, to keep it going, if you’re not willing to do the uncomfortable thing of hiring help, of delegating, of releasing. All right?

And that’s where project management comes into play.

We use a great tool called Asana.com. I love it. Check into it. It’s free if you have a certain number of users or less and that’s how we run the business. Everything is in there, all the projects, deadlines, deliverables. All the communication around the project goes in there. Nothing is falling through the cracks. We know where we stand. I know what I’m supposed to be focusing on every day because I go into my project management tool.

You become a CEO. You realize that this is real. This isn’t just some expensive hobby.

That is something that you totally need to do and then you need to become laser-focused on your calendar, working ON your business, which is that big picture view, the strategy, the high growth, the stuff that is just the magic-making.

You’re working IN your business when you’re working with your clients. When you’re creating programs. When you’re dealing with the details.

And then you have your FREE time that is non-business-related. You give yourself the gift of freedom, of going to yoga, of going for a walk outside, going for a lunch with a friend, going to the spa, whatever. Drawing, spending time with your children, dancing naked in your living room, whatever it is that gives you pleasure.

You need all of these elements – ON, IN, FREE “ways of working/living” – to truly make it as an entrepreneur, especially when you have KIDS.
