Do you ever wonder how people design their days? I do. I find it fascinating to learn how human beings LIVE day-to-day.
You can learn a lot about someone when you see how they spend their precious time.
Being an entrepreneur requires you to be ULTRA smart about what you do with your time and energy. I’m very conscious of every move I make in my business and how I design my schedule.
I ask myself, “Is this helping me grow my business? And is this the best use of my time right now?”
I only say YES to opportunities that I feel will move the mission forward.
I delegate and systematize what’s important but not essential for me to do. I’ll put a pause on projects if I don’t feel it’s worth the effort (and then decide whether or not to resume with new parameters or to let it go). And I delete things or simply say NO to requests or projects that aren’t aligned.
When it comes to my personal life, I’m always looking at how to make my routine and systems more efficient and enjoyable to reduce stress and drama.
Monthly deliveries from Amazon’s Subscribe and Ship feature (for cat food, kids’ snacks, toilet paper, paper towels, olive oil, batteries … just to name a few) helps here.
Automatic bill pay.
Weekly housekeeper who helps with laundry.
A daily Responsibility Chart for the kids that is linked to their weekly allowance.
A phone that is ALWAYS on silent mode (I am not being pulled in every time a text or call comes in).
Sending my husband calendar invitations for anything we both need to be in the loop on so we are “on the same page.”
And simply ignoring stuff that doesn’t warrant my time is HUGE here too.
This comes relatively easy to me because it’s the way I’m wired. It’s how I roll. I was even featured in a story in the New York Daily News in my early 20s for my organizational skills at work and in the way I set up my tiny bedroom in my 4th floor walkup apartment in Manhattan.
But I know it doesn’t come easy to everyone.
So I thought it would be fun to share a breakdown of 2 days in my life so you can see where my time was going and how I wear all the hats I proudly wear – woman, wife, homeschooling mom of 3, pet owner, business owner, coach, fitness lover.
I recently wrote a post about how I chunk my time and this is a huge key to my success.
If you don’t yet have my RECLAIM YOUR TIME template, make sure you grab it here.
I want you to see what I do and when. I’m sharing 2 days in 2 different weeks because my weeks often look very different based on where we are in the lunar cycle, plus a few different factors related to my programs and family … plus the season we are in.
Hope you find this recap helpful. It’s real. It’s uncensored. Just like life ought to be!
Wednesday, August 8
6:00 am: Up with the alarm to take my new dog Winnie out to the bathroom.
6:15 am: Feed animals. Drink warm water with lemon, followed by Harney + Son’s Dragon Pearl Jasmine tea with a splash of Fire Cider. My 4-year-old daughter Kate wakes up.
7:00 am: Check email and social media and respond accordingly.
7:30 am: Strength-training workout at home for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. This is my 3rd week in the 6-week program and it has absolutely changed my life and I’m just getting started. I’m now an affiliate for the program and am so excited to see women in my community signing up and saying yes to their health in new and exciting ways.
8:00 am: My 9-year-old son Sean and my 7-year-old son Luke join the party. Sean puts on workout clothes and joins me for the workout. We fight over the music, but he agrees to listen to Avicii while we exercise.
Share the above photo on social media. I’m really good with sharing on social and in email … because sharing is the best way to help people. Sharing = more sales in your business.
8:30 am: My husband Steven wakes up. Breakfast for everyone, but me. I’m doing Intermittent Fasting, and won’t eat for a few more hours.
9:00 am: Take Winnie for a walk in the neighborhood.
10:00 am: Submit homeschool report from previous school year and vision for upcoming school year to the new principal of our local elementary school. I spent several hours on this over the last week or so and feel very proud of getting this finished!
10:30 am: Work with kids on their summer workbooks. We homeschool our sons, but school isn’t officially in session for a few more weeks. In addition to French lessons for both boys and piano lessons for Sean this summer, we have them doing a few pages in their grade-specific workbooks (purchased from Staples) to keep them focused. Kate does a lot of coloring and making. She’ll be in her 2nd year of private preschool starting next month.
12:00 pm: Babysitter arrives (this summer, we’ve had a babysitter for 2 afternoons/week and this has worked well for keeping me focused in my work but not working more than I want to because … SUMMER!). Head over to our local farm store to pick up a chef salad for lunch. Give me protein! I journal while waiting for my salad to be made. I have a big day ahead and want my mind to be clear.
1:00 pm: Lead coaching call for my mastermind clients (these women are amazing!). Share the new oracle card for the August moon >> Collaborative Dreaming. I work with Alana Fairchild’s Sacred Rebels deck. This is our NEW MOON call. We will meet again for a call around the FULL MOON. In between calls, we stay in touch through Voxer and private Facebook group.
2:40 pm: Call with Facebook ads manager to solidify details for upcoming campaign.
3:00 pm: Lead coaching call for my students in Get Gutsy Coach Training School (these women are also amazing!). Share the new oracle card for the moon >> What Do YOU Feel? This is our NEW MOON call. We will meet again for a call around the FULL MOON. In between calls, we stay in touch through private Facebook group. They are also paired up for PEER COACHING, which most of our students give so much to and get so much out of.
4:45 pm: Check social media.
4:50 pm: Say goodbye to Sean’s piano teacher.
5:00 pm: Say goodbye to babysitter Sophie until next week. Feed dog, cats and fish.
5:15 pm: Eat chicken lo mein that Sophie has made for us. We get weekly deliveries from Blue Apron and I often have our babysitter at least prep the meal, if not fully cook it, so it’s one less thing on my plate.
6:00 pm onward: Dinner cleanup, baths / showers, family movie night. Take the dog out.
9:00 pm: Steven puts kids to bed (boys are still in our bed!). I am working tonight on a project so I can pass it off to my Operations Manager Jamie who will be on vacation later in the week. I need her to complete the tasks by end of day Thursday so I must get shit done tonight! It’s rare that I stay up late anymore in my business, but sometimes it has to happen.
11:50 pm: Post a screenshot of my macronutrient intake for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. Love how I’m held accountable for showing up!
12:00 am: Bedtime for me! I feel complete.
Now, let’s fast-forward a few days …
“There’s a myth that time is money. In fact, time is more precious than money. It’s a nonrenewable resource. Once you’ve spent it, and if you’ve spent it badly, it’s gone forever.” – Neil A. Fiore
Tuesday, August 14
6:00 am: Up with the alarm to take my new dog Winnie out to the bathroom.
6:15 am: Feed animals. Drink warm water with lemon, followed by Harney + Son’s Dragon Pearl Jasmine tea with a splash of Fire Cider. My 4-year-old daughter Kate wakes up.
6:30 am: Read a book to Kate. Play Jenga with Kate. Wonder why Kate isn’t still asleep so that I can have some quiet time?
7:30 am: Check email and social media and respond accordingly.
8:00 am: Rest of family gets up. Breakfast for them. I will break my fast later.
8:45 am: Sean starts mowing a baseball diamond into the front yard and let’s me know quite clearly there will be NO mowing over his design.
9:00 am: HIIT workout at home for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. This is my 4th week in the 6-week program. Today is all about sprints. Kids join in. Kate then lays in the dirt (in her tutu) and cries because we’re running and she’s not.
9:45 am: Steven takes kids and dog to his tennis game. For last part of cardio workout, I mow part of our lawn. I actually LOVE mowing. I find it totally meditative.
10:15 am: Review Facebook and Instagram ad graphics and send changes to the team. Communicate on other tasks with team in our project management software Asana, which I’ve been using and loving for YEARS.
10:30 am: Finish up the materials for Module 5 of Power Brand Camp. I LOVE this new program. And I love seeing how it’s impacting my clients. It’s been intense and demanding, yet very, very nurturing. This has been a big year of NEW CREATIONS for me. Not all of my years are like that, but this one has been and it suits me REALLY well. I am a CREATRIX at my core.
11:30 am: Shower and change. I’m going on video in a few minutes!
11:55 am: Eat a hardboiled egg and a few pieces of Genoa salami. Drink water.
12:00 pm: Hop into the Power Brand Camp Facebook group to teach Module 5 live with my clients. I LOVE teaching live. Great energy. Deliver the content. Give them their assignment. Answer questions.
1:15 pm: Update Power Brand Camp Facebook group with assignment (we challenge our clients to post their assignments right there in the group). My team handles posting resources to our member portal. This step is automated in our project management software Asana, which I’ve been using and loving for YEARS.
1:30 pm: Snack on almonds. Drink more water. Communicate on other tasks with team in Asana.
2:00 pm: Stop by bank and dry cleaner. Take myself out to a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant. I order a chicken salad and black beans. It’s low carb day. I’m super hungry. I journal while I eat alone and jam out to the amazing music on the sound system. I LOVE eating alone. I get some of my best ideas that way. I also consciously keep many of my work days with very little scheduled on the calendar. I need OPEN SPACE to think and receive.
3:40 pm: Steven and I meet about next week’s schedule and making a decision about signing Luke up for hockey camp next week, which is an hour away. He’s got major talent as a hockey player but isn’t so sure about going to this camp (it’s new to him). We decide to go for it and decide who will drive what days of the week (and stay at the hockey facility all day and work in the lobby) and who will stay with the other kids. We both work from home and create our own schedules and are very much a team when it comes to raising the kids and spending time with the kids.
4:00 pm: Monthly team meeting with my Operations Manager Jamie Hovey. Give her vision for the rest of the year, and the next few weeks especially. Answer questions. Get fired up.
4:45 pm: Review July financial reports from my bookkeeper. We had a strong July and are gearing up for a stellar rest of 2018.
5:00 pm: Look outside and realize we now have a full-on field of dreams baseball field in the front yard. Say goodbye to babysitter Sophie.
5:30 pm: Take over on making dinner. Sophie has prepped everything and set things up for me. All I need to do is cook the fish and couscous.
6:00 pm: Hop onto Facebook Live from my kitchen to share a few time-saving tips. I’m leading a rad TIME MASTERY TRAINING next week (sign up here!) so this FB Live is one way I’m spreading the word with my audience.
6:15 pm: Eat dinner!
6:00 pm onward: Dinner cleanup, baths / showers, family movie night. Take the dog out.
8:30 pm: Add tasks to Asana for myself as I got MASSIVE downloads in the shower related to my upcoming launch. Shit’s about to get real! I have a glass shower door that fogs up while I shower. I use this as a magical white board because the ideas WASH OVER ME big-time. Hello, crown chakra party! I meditate in the shower. I pray. It’s a haven. Taking powerful showers is a key to my success.
9:00 pm: Post a screenshot of my macronutrient intake for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss.
9:15 pm: Put Kate to bed and fall asleep in her bed with her. Boys still sleep in our room so Steven and I take turns sleeping with them. Tonight I’m with my girl. Thank God / Goddess for another amazing day.
So, there you have it. Two days in my life.
I have an invitation for you …
Do Less. Make More. Seriously. (Your Invitation)
There never seems to be enough hours in the day. ⏰
Is this true for you?
It doesn’t have to be.
I would love to help you have all the time that you need.
I’ve got 3 kids 😊😊😊 (2 of whom we’re homeschooling) + 1 husband 😍 + lots of animals 🐱🐶 + a home to care for 🏡 + a multiple-six-figure coaching and training business serving amazing women around the globe 🌏 + a soul (mine!) that craves sacred connection + adventurous spontaneity.
People ask me all the time ➡️ HOW DO YOU GET IT ALL DONE❓
Simple answer: I’m a master of my time and a fierce protector of my energy. I know what to focus on, what to ignore and what to delegate. I know how to move the mission forward. This laser focus 🎯has been critical to my success.
I can show you how to do the same so you can do less and make more. Seriously.
In my TIME MASTERY training, I’ll teach you how to:
✔️ Have more time for what truly matters (no more looking back on these days and saying “WTF happened?”)
✔️ Batch your tasks, chunk your time and make maximum traction from your efforts
✔️ Fall in love with a systems mindset so that you don’t always feel like you’re putting out fires or are behind on that crazy to-do list
✔️ Work with the cycles of the moon and your body to work with the energy instead of push so freaking hard (and getting sick)
Invest 2 hours into this training + reap the rewards forever.
